Bojana Turic, MD - President and CEO
Dr. Turic is CEO of Perceptronix. As one of the senior scientists employed by Perceptronix when it was founded in 1999, Dr. Turic has led Perceptronix through significant clinical and regulatory milestones including, positioning the company as a world leader in early cancer diagnostic technologies, the development of strategic commercialization alliances, and execution of the company’s first commercial agreements.

Prior to being appointed CEO, Dr. Turic served as Perceptronix’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. As CEO, Dr. Turic’s extensive experience and her proven ability to lead will be instrumental in the continued commercialization of Perceptronix’s innovative early cancer detection and diagnostic products and services in Canada, the US, and EU.

Dr. Turic is a member of Perceptronix’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Board and is an advisory board member at a private medical college.

Dr. Turic completed her MD at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina where she held the position of Assistant Professor of Medical Microbiology.

Michael O’Shaughnessy, PhD, OBC - Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. O’Shaughnessy has a long history in health care, working in the area of HIV/AIDS since 1984.  He worked extensively with the World Health Organization’s Global Program in AIDS, chairing their Diagnostics and Research Steering Committee for five years.  He was named the acting Director General of the Federal Centre of AIDS in 1991, with an annual budget of $50m.  Dr. O’Shaughnessy came to British Columbia in 1992 as founding Director of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. 

Dr. O’Shaughessy co-chaired the highly successful XIth International Conference on AIDS held in Vancouver in July, 1996, independently raising the over $25m in funding necessary to host this event.  He served as a Director of the Canadian HIV Trials Network, with a $3.5m annual budget and was a member for the Health Care Service Providers Advisory Committee for the Vancouver Regional Health Board.  He served as Chair of the National Advisory Committee on AIDS, chaired Research Grant Review Committees and was President of the Canadian Association of HIV Research for 1997-1998.  He has written more than 300 peer reviewed publications and has patents on diagnosis in the areas of HIV and cell toxicity.  He was Vice-President of Research and Tertiary Programs (Cardiac, Renal & HIV) at Providence Health (Vancouver) where he had responsibility for a budget of $100m and managed over 1000 people until his retirement in 1994. 

Jasenka Matisic, MD, FRCP(C) - Medical Director, Clinical Laboratory
Dr. Matisic is an experienced general pathologist. She spent 24 years with the BCCA, and for the last seven was the Medical Leader for the Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Dr. Matisic has been an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of British Columbia and the Chair of the Canadian Society of Cytology. She received her medical degree from the University of Zagreb and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (Pathology).

 

Darren Zilinsky, BComm - Director of Finance
Mr. Zilinsky has 7 years of finance and management accounting experience in both the private and public business sectors. Mr. Zilinsky has held positions as Financial Analyst and Corporate Controller for Vigil Health Solutions Inc. (VGL-TSX-V) a high tech software and hardware behavioural monitoring company and most recently as the Financial Controller for WEX Pharmaceuticals Inc. (WXI-TSX) an early stage drug development company. Mr. Zilinsky has been involved in Initial Public Offerings, Private and Public fundraisings and has experience in Corporate Governance and public company compliance issues.  Mr. Zilinsky holds a BComm from the University of Victoria.
