Kuen Yu (Joseph) Kwok

Mr Kuen Yu Kwok, CEO of Tincy Investment Inc. and director of Viceroy Homes Limited, is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in investments. Mr Kwok has been involved in various business projects in both China and Canada including energy, bio-technology, private equity, medicine, and construction. In 2006, Mr Kwok founded Tincy Group Energy Co. in Hong Kong. In 2009, Mr Kwok became one of the key investors in Shen Zhen Da Kang Genetic Engineering Ltd which is one of the leading companies in cancer treatment in China. It focuses on developing bio-cancer medicine which is currently on Phase III clinical trials.

Mr Kwok has demonstrated his entrepreneurship since his graduation from University of British Columbia with a degree in Engineering. His expertise in strategic planning and investment evaluation has helped Mr Kwok to develop many business connections during the years and has led to many successful investment turnouts.

 

 

Mike Harcourt

As former premier of British Columbia, Mayor of Vancouver and City Councillor, Mike Harcourt helped British Columbia earn its reputation as one of the most liveable, accessible and inclusive places in the world.  His focus on conservation and sustainable development – and his resolve to contribute to the transformation of cities and communities has played a significant role in promoting quality of life for those in Canada and abroad.

After stepping down from politics, he was appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as a member of the National Round Table on the Environment and Economy, where he served on the Executive Committee and Chaired the Urban Sustainability Program.  He was a Federally appointed B.C. Treaty Commissioner and was Chair of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee for Cities and Communities.

Mike Harcourt is Chair of University of British Columbia’s Regional Sustainability Council for sustainability initiatives, as well as Associate Director of the Centre for Sustainability Continuing Studies at U.B.C.  In addition to acting as Chairman of Quality Urban Energy Systems for Tomorrow (QUEST),  he chairs the Canadian Electricity Association’s Sustainable Electricity Program Advisory Panel.  He is also the lead faculty in United Way’s Public Policy Institute.

Jas Hayre

Jas Hayre joined Abacus in 2011 as Managing Director of Abacus’ Structure Financial Solutions Group. Jas is a chartered accountant and has over 20 years of experience in public and private practice advising clients on cross-border tax issues. Prior to joining Abacus he had his own international tax consulting firm, C2 Global Solutions, and was a tax partner and leader of the international tax services group for Ernst & Young, LLP in Vancouver for over 10 years.

Mr. Hayre has advised clients on minimizing their overall global effective tax rates resulting in very substantial savings. His clients have ranged from owner-managed private corporations to Fortune 100 companies. Jas’s experience includes a wide variety of industries, including energy and oil, pharmaceuticals, forest products, technology, manufacturing, metal and mining, real estate and financial services industries.
