Bojana Turic, MD President & CEO

As CEO of PMI Labs, Dr. Turic's extensive experience and proven ability to lead will be instrumental in the expansion of service and continued commercialization of innovative technology for early cancer detection products. Prior to being appointed CEO, Dr. Turic served as Vice President and COO. As one of the senior scientists of PMI Labs when it was founded in 1999, she has led the Company through significant clinical and regulatory milestones including, positioning the company as a world leader in early cancer diagnostic technologies, the development of strategic commercialization alliances, and execution of the company’s first commercial agreements. Dr. Turic completed her MD at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina where she held the position of Assistant Professor of Medical Microbiology.

Darren Zilinsky, BComm, CMA Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Zilinsky worked from 2001 until 2005 at Vigil Health Solutions Inc. (CDNX: VGL.V), a software company specializing in services for the long-term health care market. There he spanned roles from Accounting Analyst to Controller and played an integral part in structuring and managing financial programs such as a limited partnership, various private placements and helped the company with their reverse takeover on the TSX Venture exchange in 2002. In 2005, Mr. Zilinsky joined WEX Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Toronto: WXI.TO) as Corporate Controller and was responsible for all financial reporting, budgeting and compliance issues. During his time with WEX, Mr. Zilinsky implemented a controlled budget system, improved corporate governance compliance and helped to streamline quarterly and annual external audits.

Mr. Zilinsky holds a CMA designation and a Commerce degree in International Business from the University of Victoria.

Alexei Doudkine, PhD Director of Business Development

Alexei Doudkine, Ph.D. is a Director of Business Development at Perceptronix, focusing on new business opportunities, partnerships and collaborations. Previously Dr. Doudkine served as Director of Quantitative Pathology Products, managing development of company’s automated image cytometry devices and quantitative cytology services. Dr. Doudkine has over 20 years of experience in medical device industry developing novel imaging and spectroscopy technology for various biomedical applications. He is an author or co-author of more than 20 papers and co-inventor in several patents on application of digital imaging technology to early detection of cancer. Dr. Doudkine holds PhD in Computer Science from St. Petersburg Electrical Engineering University (Russia) and MSc in Applied Mathematics from St. Petersburg State University.

Ivana Cecic, PhD Director of Science & Technology

Dr. Cecic is an experienced researcher in the field of oncology having published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and traveled often to present her findings at international scientific conferences. Projects have included understanding the role of immunity in cancer treatment and applying non-invasive imaging tools to visualize physiological changes in tumours. Dr. Cecic was granted her doctorate degree from the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Post-doctoral research was conducted in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Stanford University School of Medicine, U.S.A. She has directed multiple research and development programs, some of which have been in partnership with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Cecic's current focus is to incorporate the detection of cancer biomarkers into existing technology platforms at Perceptronix, expanding the scope of tools offered by our diagnostics laboratory.

Malcolm Hayes, B.Sc., M.B.,Ch.B., LRCP, MRCS, M.Med. Path, FRCPath, FRCPC Medical Director

In addition to his work at Perceptronix, Malcolm Hayes is a pathologist at the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) in Vancouver. Dr. Hayes has worked at the BCCA since 1993 and has broad expertise in surgical pathology and cytopathology and major interests in breast, skin, gynecological and soft tissue pathology. He is a Clinical Professor of pathology at the University of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologist of UK. He has many years of expertise in diagnostic immunohistochemistry based on employment of this technique in the work up of a large volume of challenging consultation cases referred to the BCCA "Primary Unknown" tumour group.

Jasenka Matisic, MD, FRCP(C)

Dr. Matisic is an experienced anatomic pathologist with special interest in gynecological and non-gynecological cytopathology and gynecological histopathology. She spent 24 years with the BCCA, and for the last seven was the Medical Leader for the Cervical Cancer Screening Program. Dr. Matisic has been an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Chair of the Canadian Society of Cytology. She received her medical degree from the University of Zagreb and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (Pathology).

Samson Ng, BSc, DMD, MSc, FRCD(C), FDSRCSEd, Dip. ABOM, Dip. ABOMP

Samson Ng is a dual certified specialist in Oral & Maxiollofacial Pathology and Oral Medicine in both Canada and the USA. He received his dental qualification from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and completed a general practice residency and an Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology residency program at UBC/Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. Dr. Ng's practice focuses on oral mucosal and temporomandibular (TMJ) disease and his clinical research focuses on early detection of oral pre/cancer and photodynamic therapy for oral pathogens.

Milton Wong, PhD (Hon), CM, OBC Chairman

In addition to being a founder and major shareholder of PMI Labs, Dr. Wong contributes his distinguished financial and business experience to the Company. Dr. Wong founded and managed M. K. Wong & Associates in 1980, which was acquired by Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (“HSBC”) in 1996, promoting Dr. Wong to the Chairman of HSBC Asset Management Canada. Dr. Wong was the primary angel investor and major shareholder supporting ALI Technologies Inc. which was successfully grown and sold to McKesson Information Solutions Medical Imaging Group in 2002 for $530 million.  Additionally, Dr. Wong is currently a Board member of Alcan Inc., Seaspan Corp. and Genome British Columbia.

Known for his extensive community involvement and philanthropy, he serves as a director on the Board of many non-profit organizations including the Aga Kahn Foundation Canada, The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, Genome BC, and Stem Cell Network. His wide participation in the life of Vancouver includes being founding chairman of the International Dragon Boat Festival, the co-chair of the BC Cancer Foundation Millennium Campaign and a key fundraiser for the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, Science World, SUCCESS and the YMCA.

Dr. Wong received an honorary doctorate degree from Simon Fraser University (“SFU”) in British Columbia in 1999, where he served as Chancellor from 1999 to 2005. He is a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia.  He has been given Vancouver City's Civic Award, a Distinguished Leadership and Honour Roll distinction from Maclean's Magazine, the Ernst & Young 2002 Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award for his considerable achievements in business, and 2005 Brotherhood Interfaith Society Person of the Year.

David Korbin , CA

David Korbin, CA, was appointed to the company's Board of Directors in August, 2007. Mr. Korbin, 64, presently works as a management and financial consultant. He is a director of E-Comm Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia. He has been Chairman of E-Comm's board of directors since 2004 and was Chairman of the audit committee from 2002 to 2003. From 1992 to 2000, he was a director of the Vancouver General Hospital and then the Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, serving as Chairman of the Vancouver General Hospital audit committee from 1993 to 1994 and Chairman of the Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre from 1995 to 1998. Mr. Korbin qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1966, and from 1990 to 1992 he was a managing partner of Deloitte Touche LLC. Mr. Korbin is a director of Seaspan Corporation (NYSE:SSW), and is Chairman of Seaspan's Audit Committee. As well, since May 2006, Mr. Korbin serves on the Board of Ivanhoe Mines (NYSE:IVN) and was appointed chairman of the audit committee for that company in May 2007. He has also been a director of Ivanhoe Australia Limited, which is listed on the Australia Securities Exchange, since 2008.

John MacDonald, OC, PhD, FCAE, PEng

Dr. John MacDonald is co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Day4 Energy, a solar energy company dedicated to commercializing a new technology with the potential to make solar energy cost competitive with fossil fuel in generating electrical energy. Dr. MacDonald co-founded MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., serving as President and CEO until September 1982 and as Chairman from 1982 until 1998. Dr. MacDonald has served on the Board of Directors of more than 10 companies, and currently serves on the Board of Analytical Spectral Devices Inc., the British Columbia Discovery Fund Inc., Day4, and PMI Labs.

Dr. MacDonald held professorships in electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of British Columbia. He has also been active in an advisory capacity to Federal and Provincial governments on many projects including APEC, NRC and NAFTA. He led the industrial team that helped to form the Canadian Space Agency in 1989 and has also served on a number of US government advisory committees and boards in the field of Earth observation from space.

Dr. MacDonald is a member of many learned societies and the recipient of numerous academic and business awards, including eight honorary doctorates from Canadian universities.  He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1988 and was inducted into the Business Laureatres of BC Hall of Fame in May, 2006.

Sherri Magee, PhD

Dr. Magee has been an independent oncology researcher in the area of cancer survivorship and recovery since 1993 and is a regular lecturer at the UBC School of Rehabilitation Sciences.  A major focus of her research is the process of recovery after cancer treatment; culminating in co-authoring the book entitled, Picking up the Pieces: Moving Forward after Cancer which was published in March, 2006. Dr. Magee co-developed the first private practice cancer rehabilitation program, "Back on Track," and chairs their advisory board.  Dr. Magee has also served as Executive Director of Hope House, a centre in Vancouver that provided psychological support to survivors and their families.  She has also served on numerous cancer advisory boards and committees. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Magee performed research and instruction on cancer care in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Magee earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana (Missoula), a Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from UBC.

 
Hugh M. Scott, MD, FRCP(C)

Dr. Scott is president and CEO of the Scarborough Hospital, Scarborough, Ontario. He has been a professor and researcher at McGill University and Université de Sherbrooke. His service to academia and the wider community has been extensive: Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Bishop’s University (1986-1995), Executive Director of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (1995-1998), Executive Director and CEO of McGill University Health Centre (1998-2004).
